02 Aug Tribute to Bill Bishop
Paonia Town Park
September 26th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
At the 2021 Mountain Harvest Festival Sarah Bishop is throwing a party for Bill Bishop from 2-4 on Sunday afternoon. Join us for a party in the park with the festival All Star Band. Celebrate Bill with a toast – we buy the drinks at the “Drink Locally Tent” – and offer you something sweet after the Chili Cook-off. While Bill left this realm in February, he will certainly join us in spirit. He would never miss a party in the park. Here’s a bit of what we celebrate.
We moved here from Washington, DC (from the ridiculous to the sublime) in 1999 and immediately got involved with all kinds of community organizations and activities. From 2002 to 2018 both of us worked to help make Mountain Harvest Festival what it is today. Bill and Sarah were part of the leadership team for most of that time. Bill was instrumental in creating Mountain Harvest Creative, the non-profit that sponsors the festival. Bill was a more than adequate rhythm guitar player; Sarah joined in on the mandolin. The two of them played and sang together, but were truly in their harmonic element with lead singers such as Zach Mann – “ZBS NEWZ” – and Mike Gwinn – “The Gospel Project”.
Bill wrote a few songs, mostly love songs to Sarah. Awwww, what a guy. Bill has left a significant mark on this Valley of the North Fork of the Gunnison. While he is gone, he is certainly not forgotten. So, come raise a glass on Sunday and enjoy Bill’s party. It will be just what he would want.
