The Mountain Harvest Festival is grateful for the support of the West Elks AVA. The West Elks AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Delta County, Colorado. The highest altitude vineyards in the northern hemisphere are planted in the West Elks AVA.

The West Elks AVA is becoming well known for its fine wines. In the years before Prohibition the valley of the North Fork of the Gunnison river was well-known for its grape production. During the Prohibition years the vinyards were torn out and replaced by orchards producing cherries, pears, peaches and apples. A slow reversal is now happening as grape production is becoming an important element of the North Fork’s agricultural economy.

The Valley is more recently becoming well known for its fine crafted beer as well, with hops becoming a local agricultural commodity and local  brewery, Revolution Brewery, serving up fine brews.

Check back for information on the 2016 festival.
